This comprehensive course is carefully designed to fully prepare students who wish to apply for a State of Arizona Concealed Carry Permit. It will equip you with the necessary knowledge, skills, and attitude to confidently and safely handle a firearm while also delivering in-depth insight into Arizona State Law concerning weapons and the use of force.

What you need to know:

This class meets the State of Arizona requirements for CCW Certification by an NRA Certified Instructor.

Topics Covered:

  • Hands-on practical exercise in safe gun handling and storage.
  • Explanation of the 4 Rules of Firearms Safety
  • Instruction in personal security/defense
  • Legal and Ethical Use of Force Instruction and Examples
  • Information on what to do after a use of force incident.
  • Two to Three hours of Live fire Firearm Safety/Marksmanship Training

 

What we will receive:

– Arizona DPS Application

– Certificate of Completion (The Arizona Department of Public Safety requires a Certificate of Completion for a Firearms Safety course to obtain your permit)

What you need to complete before or after the class: (These two print cards will be needed with the application and the certificate when mailing

– Two fingerprint cards can be obtained at any AZ Live Scan location. Alternatively, you can call 602-246-3444 to inquire about walk-ins or to schedule an appointment.

Welcome Letter / Important information for your course.

THE FIRST THING YOU NEED TO KNOW WHEN ARRIVING ON THE RANGE: Please keep all firearms in their cases or holsters until we are on the firing line. For everyone’s safety, we will commit to NOT handling guns for any reason unless on the firing line.

FACILITIES: Cowtown is a rustic range complex without potable water. The Porta-Potties are cleaned regularly, but there are no other facilities nearby.

WHAT TO WEAR AND BRING: We will be in desert terrain, so some type of:

  • Comfortable shirt with a closed collar (no V-neck or tank top)
  • Comfortable closed-toe shoes, hiking, or sneakers
  • Ballcap, hat with a visor or brim
  • Eye and ear pro (we can supply them if needed)
  • Sunscreen, water, snacks, and any meds, if needed

(There will be a break before heading to the range side; you can bring snacks, lunch, and drinks. You will have either an hour or 30 minutes to eat and take a break before your range time)

 

FIREARM/AMMO: We can provide the pistols if you need one (please let us know on the registration form) 

  • 150 – 200 rounds of FMJ ammo (can be purchased from us for $14.95 a box, plus tax)

 

HOLSTERS: We can provide the holsters if you need one (please let us know on the registration form)

BELT: Good leather or nylon belt, 1.5 to 2 inches wide.

SCHEDULE: We will start with a brief introduction on housekeeping issues, sign-in, and safety briefing. After that, we will discuss our goals and inspect your gear. Our top priority is to create a safe training environment while evaluating your gun accuracy and safety. We will maintain a relaxed yet challenging pace. Our second goal is to have fun! Finally, we will have a quick debrief to go over your class experience. We’re excited to see you there.
