This course is specifically designed for safety ministry personnel and security team members. In today’s world, it is essential that we remain vigilant and prepared to address threats to our sanctuary and our community, wherever we gather. The use of weapons for societal protection has been documented throughout history, and it is our responsibility to ensure that we practice safe and responsible training and education. This course aims to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of safe firearm handling in close or crowded environments.

Topics Covered:
*Practicing and training in the manner you are dressed and equipped at your post.
*Training to draw and shoot accurately under stress with your carry equipment.
*Training to move into position for a clear shot without endangering others.
*Identifying potential threats BEFORE it is too late.
*Safely manipulating your firearm in a close-quarters environment.
*Reloading your firearm.
*Clearing malfunctions in your firearm.
*Rescuing injured victims to a position of safety.
*Working effectively with law enforcement responders enhances your team’s efficiency in getting help.

Don’t the 1.0 fool you! This block is our first one in a series of shooting while moving from one position to another. We will delve into the building blocks of shooting and moving efficiently. We will break down the process in great detail, and each of you will watch one, do one, then teach one. YOU WILL PERFORM AT A HIGHER LEVEL THAN YOU EVER HAVE. 

This course will build into others that follow, so this is the foundation course.

(7/5/26 Sunday, 8-11 am, Rifle 1 Range)

At Ben Avery Range-4044 W Black Canyon Blvd, Phoenix, AZ 85086

This block will provide an in-depth refresher on your rifle and pistol. A variety of reps will have you working with your sling and holster, changing mags, and transitioning safely between platforms.

POI Include:
*Aim Small Miss Small drills on both platforms.
*Transitioning between both systems smoothly to engage targets near and far.
*Scenarios involving the deployment of your rifle from an unknown condition, loading, and getting into the fight.
*Movement drills will have you running both platforms while under stress.
*Timed standards drills to build confidence and proficiency.

(7/18/26 Saturday, 6-9 pm, DPS Range)

This block is about the down-and-dirty business of self-defense in tight spaces. You can run this with your range rig or EDC.

POI Include:
*Break Contact Drills, from the clinch to arm’s length, to several paces away.
*Point shooting without sights
*Malfunction clearance during a fight.
*Speed vs. Accuracy in a close encounter.

(7/25/26 Saturday, 5-9 pm, Practical Pistol Bay D)

At Ben Avery Range, 4044 W Black Canyon Blvd, Phoenix, Az 85086

A blend of tactical and competition shooting with a focus on care under fire and fine motor skills under stress.

This will be a scored low-light rifle steel match with 3 stages.
•Stages will involve multiple targets at various distances and firing positions utilizing the VTAC barricade and other obstacles.
•You will shoot each stage two times, and your best run will be used for scoring.

We will have a cold range during the match. All firearms must remain unloaded at all times until directed to load by the Range Officer (RO). Pistol caliber carbines are welcome.
